Cinema Guild announced today that it has acquired the rights to acclaimed Portuguese director Manoel de Oliveira's final feature film, Gebo and the Shadow (2012), and will bring it to Blu-ray on October 15.
Synopsis: For his final feature film, Portuguese master Manoel de Oliveira offers a foreboding fable of familial unrest. Gebo lives a quiet life in a European port city with his wife, Doroteia, and his daughter-in-law, Sofia. But the family is haunted by the absence of Joćo, Gebo's son and Sofia's
husband. Rumors are circulating of robberies and even darker dealings in neighboring ports. Is Joćo responsible? One night, he arrives home and all is brought to light.
Featuring a cast of luminaries led by Michael Lonsdale, Claudia Cardinale and Jeanne Moreau, Gebo and the Shadow is an atmospheric gem and an unmissable cinematic milestone.
