Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced that it will release on Blu-ray The Poison Rose (2019), starring John Travolta, Morgan Freeman, Famke Janssen, Brendan Fraser, and Peter Stormare. The release will be available for purchase on June 25.
Synopsis: John Travolta, Morgan Freeman, Famke Janssen, Ella Bleu Travolta, Robert Patrick, and Brendan Fraser lend their talents to this searing detective thriller. Travolta plays Carson Philips, a hard-drinking L.A. private eye who takes a case in his old hometown of Galveston, Texas. While searching for a missing woman, Philips must confront a crime boss (Freeman), a shady doctor (Fraser), a sexy club singer (Kat Graham), his former lover (Janssen) — and his own dark, disturbing past.
"Over the years, Richard Salvatore and I kept talking about making this film together," says director George Gallo, "but every time we tried, it fell apart. When John Travolta expressed interest in playing the role of Carson, I of course was overjoyed. I thought how cool it would be to make a 1970s film noir detective movie with perhaps the most iconic actor of the same period. When Morgan Freeman came on board, I was again elated to have such a fantastic, iconic actor to be John's nemesis. Watching these actors work together was just a treat."
The Poison Rose was directed by George Gallo, produced by Richard Salvatore and Avi Lerner along with Andrea Iervolino and Oscar Generale. The film's executive producers are David Ornston, George Gallo, Trevor Short, Barry Brooker, and Stan Wertlieb. Lonnie Ramati, Micheal Schefano, Anson Downes, and Linda Favila are co-executive producers and Ben Ruedinger, Chris Mullinex, and Joerg Fischer are co-producers.
