For the week that ended on February 23rd, Warner Home Entertainment's A Star Is Born premiered at number one on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media charts. This Academy Award-winning musical - the fifth remake of this particular story - scored big with critics and viewers last year. The film netted terrific critical notices (it has an 88% rating on Metacritic) and went on to gross over $425 million worldwide on top of its estimated $36-million production budget and pick up eight Academy Award nominations (including Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Picture). This week, A Star Is Born had a very strong Blu-ray market share of 53%.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales rankings was Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment's Bohemian Rhapsody. A musical journey through the work of classic-rock band Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody became one of the past year's biggest successes. Even though Bohemian Rhapsody garnered mediocre critical notices (it has a 49% rating on Metacritic) and a fair amount of behind-the-scenes controversy, it still grossed over $854 million worldwide on top of its estimated $52-million production budget and win four Academy Awards (including Best Actor and Best Editing). Bohemian Rhapsody had a solid Blu-ray market share of 66% and sold 65% as many Blu-rays and 52% as many total units as A Star Is Born.

Finally, Lionsgate Home Entertainment's Robin Hood rounded out the top three on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales lists. The latest adaptation of the Robin Hood story, this medieval actioner struggled to connect with audiences during its fall run in theaters. Critics largely hated the film - to the tune of an 32% favorability score on Metacritic - and audiences were even less enthralled, as it made just over $84 million worldwide on top of its estimated $100-million production budget. On the Blu-ray-only list, Robin Hood had an HD market share of 61% and sold 29% as many Blu-rays as A Star Is Born. Regarding the overall package-media list, the film sold 26% as many total units as that Oscar-nominated musical.
