For the week that ended on February 16th, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment's Bohemian Rhapsody premiered at number one on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media charts. A musical journey through the work of classic-rock band Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody became one of the past year's biggest successes. Even though Bohemian Rhapsody garnered mediocre critical notices (it has a 49% rating on Metacritic) and a fair amount of behind-the-scenes controversy, it still went on to gross over $854 million worldwide on top of its estimated $52-million production budget and pick up five Academy Award nominations (including Best Actor and Best Picture). This week, Bohemian Rhapsody had a very strong Blu-ray market share of 73%.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales rankings was Universal Studios Home Entertainment's The Grinch. This animated comedy - the third major adaptation of Dr. Seuss' iconic children's story - proved a sleeper hit following its November release. The film scored relatively mediocre critical notices (it has a 51% rating on Metacritic), but it did go on to gross over $508 million worldwide on top of its estimated $75-million production budget. The Grinch had a solid Blu-ray market share of 60% and sold 26% as many Blu-rays and 32% as many total units as Bohemian Rhapsody.

Finally, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment's Widows rounded out the top three on the Blu-ray-only sales list. The latest film from Academy Award-winning director Steve McQueen, Widows struggled to connect with audiences during its winter run in theaters. While critics largely accepted the film - to the tune of an 84% favorability score on Metacritic - audiences were less enthralled, and it made just over $42 million domestically on top of its estimated $42-million production budget. On the Blu-ray-only list, Widows had an HD market share of 49% and sold 4% as many Blu-rays as Bohemian Rhapsody. Regarding the overall package-media list, the film came in fourth place (behind Tyler Perry's Nobody's Fool) and sold 6% as many total units as that Oscar-nominated musical.
