For the week that ended on February 10th, Universal Studios Home Entertainment's The Grinch premiered at number one on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media charts. This animated comedy - the third major adaptation of Dr. Seuss' iconic children's story - proved a sleeper hit following its November release. The film scored relatively mediocre critical notices (it has a 51% rating on Metacritic), but it did go on to gross over $508 million worldwide on top of its estimated $75-million production budget. This week, The Grinch had a strong Blu-ray market share of 66%.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales rankings was Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment's Widows. The latest film from Academy Award-winning director Steve McQueen, Widows struggled to connect with audiences during its winter run in theaters. While critics largely accepted the film - to the tune of an 84% favorability score on Metacritic - audiences were less enthralled, and it made just over $42 million domestically on top of its estimated $42-million production budget. Widows had a Blu-ray market share of 51% and sold 14% as many Blu-rays and 18% as many total units as The Grinch.

Finally, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's The Girl in the Spider's Web rounded out the top three on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales lists. An adaptation of the fourth novel in the Lisbeth Salander "Millennium" series, The Girl in the Spider's Web found neither the critical nor commercial approval that its predecessor, David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, generated. The new film got less-than-decent critical notices (it scored a 43% rating on Metacritic), and it went on to gross just under $15 million domestically on top of its estimated $43-million production budget. On the Blu-ray-only list, The Girl in the Spider's Web had a solid HD market share of 62% and sold 11% as many Blu-rays as The Grinch. Regarding the overall package-media list, the film sold 12% as many total units as that animated crowd-pleaser.
