Today on Blu-ray - March 3rd

Even though 'The Silence of the Lambs' was the winner of five Academy Awards (including Best Picture) in 1991, its greatest accomplishment has to be the film's ability to teeter at the edge of reality without falling into chasm of science fiction. With so many extremes, it could have very easily lost its impact on audiences with a single misstep, but with masterful performances by both Hopkins and Foster, remains one of the best films of all time.

Also on Blu-ray today is the modern-day epic 'Australia'. Staring Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman in pre-WWII Australia, this film set the record for highest grossing opening weekend for an Australian film in Australia and saw much of its success in foreign theaters.

One film that beat expectations was Disney's 'Beverley Hills Chihuahua', which lit up box offices across the country. Featuring talking dogs (voiced by a familiar cast of Hollywood favorites), has all the family friendly laughs and touching story that one would expect from a Disney film. The Blu-ray release is spectacular, as usual, with superb video and audio. I'm still trying to figure out how you cast Cheech Marin as a rat instead of a Chihuahua.

And finally, those of you who will be standing in line to see 'Watchmen' this Friday will also want to pick up 'Watchmen: The Complete Motion Comic', which is out on Blu-ray today. There's no better way to prepare for the film than by "watching" the graphic novel that inspired it.
