For the week that ended on January 26th, Universal Studios Home Entertainment's First Man premiered at number one on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media charts. Director Damien Chazelle and Ryan Gosling's latest collaboration (after the Oscar-winning La La Land), First Man struggled to connect with audiences following its October release. While it found relatively rapturous critical notices (it scored an 84% rating on Metacritic), it then grossed just under $45 million domestically on top of its estimated $59-million production budget. This week, First Man had a strong Blu-ray market share of 72%.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales rankings was another Universal title: Halloween. This horror rebootquel - the latest installment in the iconic Halloween franchise - found massive success after its release last October. It garnered solid critical notices (it has a 67% score on Metacritic), and then it went on to gross over $253 million worldwide on top of its estimated $10-million production budget. Halloween had a Blu-ray market share of 58% and sold 77% as many Blu-rays and 96% as many total units as First Man.

Finally, Warner Home Entertainment's Smallfoot rounded out the top three on the Blu-ray-only ales list. An animated comedy about yetis, Smallfoot was a modest success last September. It got decent critical notices (it has an 60% score on Metacritic), and then it went on to gross over $82 million domestically on top of its estimated $82-million production budget. On the Blu-ray-only list, Smallfoot had a strong HD market share of 68% and sold 51% as many Blu-rays as Halloween. Regarding the overall package-media list, the film came in fourth place - behind Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween - and sold 54% as many total units as the Ryan Gosling-starring space epic.
