For the week that ended on December 29th, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's Venom remained at number one on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media charts. This superhero spinoff - the titular character is one of Spider-Man's most infamous foes - overcame fairly toxic press and became one of the fall's biggest hits. Yes, it garnered poor critical notices (it has a 35% score on Metacritic), but it still went on to gross over $855 million worldwide on top of its estimated $100-million production budget. This week, the film had a good Blu-ray market share of 63%.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only sales ranking was Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment's The Predator. The latest installment in the Predator series, writer-director Shane Black's franchise rebootquel struggled to connect with critics and audiences. It got mediocre critical notices (it has an 48% score on Metacritic), and then it went on to gross over $51 million domestically on top of its estimated $88-million production budget. The Predator had a solid Blu-ray market share of 65% and sold 34% as many Blu-rays and 33% as many total units as Venom.

Finally, Universal Studios Home Entertainment's The House with a Clock in Its Walls rounded out the top three on the Blu-ray-only sales list. Director Eli Roth's family-friendly adaptation of the John Bellairs classic was a modest success following its September 2018 release. The film scored average critical notices (it has an 57% score on Metacritic), and it then grossed over $68 million domestically on top of its estimated $42-million production budget. On the Blu-ray-only list, The House with a Clock in Its Walls had an HD market share of 54% and sold 28% as many Blu-rays as Venom. Regarding the overall package-media chart, the film came in second place - bumping The Predator to third - and sold 33% as many total units as Sony's superhero starter.
