Corel has announced that their popular line of PC based Blu-ray playback software - InterVideo WinDVD 8 - has now been approved by Dolby Labs for the playback of Dolby Digital Plus (DD+) and Dolby TrueHD audio streams. This is excellent news for HTPC users who use their machines as the main playback device of Blu-ray movies. Blaine Mathieu, Vice President and General Manager, Products and Strategy, Corel Digital Media commented, "Corel is committed to maintaining WinDVD's tradition of excellence by continuing to make the consumer video experience more enjoyable. People who move up to HD video want the same quality in their audio as they have with their picture. We're pleased that WinDVD meets that challenge by integrating Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus support." The upgrade is available now through the Corel website.
