Universal Pictures Home Entertainment will celebrate the twentieth anniversary of Joel and Ethan Coen's film The Big Lebowski (1998) with brand new 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of the film, which will be available for purchase on October 16.
The studio has not yet officially announced these upcoming releases and Blu-ray.com has not confirmed their exact technical specs. (Details for a new 4K/2K remaster are unavailable at the moment).
The releases are already available for pre-order at online vendor Amazon.
Additionally, Fathom Events, Turner Classic Movies and Universal Pictures are bringing The Big Lebowski to select cinemas nationwide for a special two-day event, which also includes exclusive insight from Turner Classic Movies host Ben Mankiewicz. The announced screening dates are August 5 and 8. Check local listings for further details.
Synopsis: The Dude. One cool guy. Who one day comes home to find two thugs have broken in and ruined his favorite carpet-the one that made the room "hang together". Thing is, they did it because he's got the same name as one of the richest men in town. Lebowski. But, hey, no problem. He'll get even. At least he'll get someone to pay for the carpet.
