For the week that ended on July 28th, Warner Home Entertainment's Ready Player One debuted at number one on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media charts. In adapting the popular Ernest Cline novel, director Steven Spielberg scored a blockbuster entertainment that performed decently with critics and audiences. It received average critical notices (the film has a Metacritic rating of 64%) and then grossed $582 million worldwide on top of its $175-million production budget. This week, Ready Player One had a very strong Blu-ray market share of 76%.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales rankings was another Warner title: Rampage. Star Dwayne Johnson's explosive creature-feature - an adaptation of the popular video game - has struggled to connect with critics and audiences in North America. It received below-average critical notices (the film has a 45% rating on Metacritic) and domestically, the film only grossed $99 million on top of its $120-million production budget (in fairness, Rampage proved far more successful outside North America, picking up an additional $326.9 million from foreign markets). Rampage had an HD market share of 46% and sold 24% as many Blu-rays and 39% as many total units as Ready Player One.

Finally, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment's Super Troopers 2 filled out the top-three spots on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales lists. The long-delayed sequel to Broken Lizard's 2001 cult favorite, this R-rated comedy was a modest success following its premiere last April. While it received underwhelming critical notices (the film has a 41% Metacritic rating), it still grossed $30.6 million domestically on top of its estimated $13.5-million production budget. Super Troopers 2 had an HD market share of 50% and sold 11% as many Blu-rays as Ready Player One. Regarding the overall package-media list, the film sold 17% as many total units as Spielberg's sci-fi actioner.
