For the week that ended on June 2nd, Marvel and Walt Disney Home Entertainment's Black Panther remained at number one (its third week holding this position) on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media charts. Another superhero entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Black Panther was a massive success with both critics and audiences following its February premiere. Critics largely adored the film (note its robust 88% favorability rating on Metacritic), and viewers were just as supportive, turning out to the film to the tune of a $1.3-billion worldwide gross (and counting - it's still playing in first-run in some markets) on top of its estimated $205-million production budget. This week, Black Panther had a solid Blu-ray market share of 64%.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales rankings was Paramount Home Media Distribution's Annihilation. Director Alex Garland's surreal, esoteric sci-fi adaptation impressed critics but proved too distancing for mass audiences; despite its decent critical notices (a 79% Metacritic rating), viewers struggled with the film, which only grossed $32 million domestically on top of its estimated $40-million production budget. Annihilation had a strong HD market share of 69% and sold 42% as many Blu-rays and 38% as many overall package-media units as Black Panther.

Finally, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment's Red Sparrow filled out the top-three spots on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales lists. An adult, R-rated spy drama, this Jennifer Lawrence vehicle struggled to connect with both fans and critics after its release in March. It received only so-so critical notices (vide its 53% Metacritic rating), and viewers weren't much more supportive, given its middling domestic gross of $47 million on top of its estimated $69-million production budget (to be fair, the film performed much better overseas, where it earned an additional 101.6 million). Red Sparrow had an HD market share of 56% and sold 25% as many Blu-rays and 29% as many total units as Black Panther.
