Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle debuted at the top of the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media charts. The sequel to the
1995 family favorite, this spirited action-comedy proved a major hit with audiences. While the film only scored okay critical notices (a
58% Metacritic rating), viewers adored the picture, which has gone on to
gross over $943 million worldwide on top of its rumored $90-million production budget. This week,
Jumanji 2 had a Blu-ray market share of 58%.
Next up on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales rankings was DC and Warner Home Entertainment's
Justice League. This troubled follow-up to
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice struggled to improve DC's cinematic fortunes and live up to the high bar that
Wonder Woman set. The film scored below-average critical notices (a
45% Metacritic rating) and went on to
gross over $229 million domestically on top of its rumored $300-million production budget.
Justice League had an HD market share of 61% and sold 37% as many Blu-rays and 35% as many overall package-media units as
Jumanji.
Finally, Universal Studios Home Entertainment's
Pitch Perfect 3 filled out the top-three spots on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales lists. The latest entry in the
Pitch Perfect franchise found modest success after its release in December. The movie scored below-average critical ratings (a
40% Metacritic score), though audiences supported the film to the tune of an
$104-million domestic gross on top of its estimated $45-million production budget.
Pitch Perfect 3 had an HD market share of 57% and sold 32% as many Blu-rays and total units as
Justice League.
