U.S. label ClassicFlix has confirmed that it is preparing a Blu-ray release of director Arnold Laven's noir thriller Down Three Dark Streets (1954), starring Broderick Crawford, Ruth Roman, Martha Hyer, Marisa Pavan, Max Showalter, Claude Akins, and Suzanne Alexander. The release will be available for purchase on April 24.
Synopsis: When federal agent Zack Stewart (Kenneth Tobey) turns up dead, his partner, agent John Ripley (Broderick Crawford), vows to find the murderer and takes control of all of the cases that Stewart was on when he was killed. One investigation involves a ring of thugs who hijack cars, another deals with a mobster on the lam, and the third revolves around blackmail and kidnapping. Unfortunately for Ripley, each case is so dangerous that he may not live long enough to find the man who killed Stewart. Cinematography by Joseph Biroc (Robert Aldrich's The Flight of the Phoenix, The Longest Yard).
