Lionsgate Says More on the Way

During a fourth quarter earnings conference call, Lionsgate talked to the success they have seen in their Blu-ray distribution area. They currently hold 11% of the Blu-ray market compared to only 6% of the DVD market. This can be accounted for due to strong title support, which is expected to grow to 50 titles (currently, they have 28 released or dated for release) by the end of the year.
Lionsgate also predicts that the Blu-ray market share will increase as the year goes on, even if Universal decides to continue to give exclusive support to HD DVD. They see the 2-to-1 sales advantage Blu-ray has over HD DVD as a sign that Blu-ray will ultimately emerge as the single format for HD film distribution.
