CES 2009: Maxell

Maxell is supporting the full line Blu-ray recordable media this year, including the 8cm Blu-ray camcorder discs used by Hitachi. They expect that, as the demand for blank Blu-ray media increases in the third and fourth quarters of this year, the pricing will begin to fall to more reasonable levels.

This, of course, is heavily dependent on the health of the economy. The company is projecting that, once the economy rebounds, the demand for PCs with Blu-ray drives will exceed previous levels, driving the need for blank Blu-ray media.
