Dolby, the company mostly know for its audio codecs Dolby Digital and Dolby TrueHD, will be presenting a new 3D technology at CES this year. Competing with other 3D technologies, Dolby claims its tech will work with any standard 3D display - which are currently available from both Samsung and Mitsubishi - connected to a standard Blu-ray Disc player.
Panasonic, who will also be showing off their 3D technology, requires a specialized Blu-ray Disc player for their technology to work. If Dolby can accomplish the same effect using a standard Blu-ray player that are currently on the market, Panasonic may have some heavy competition.
We'll have more about Dolby's 3D tech once the show starts.
