For the week that ended on October 14th, Walt Disney Home Entertainment's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales remained at the top of the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media charts. The newest entry in the popular Pirates of the Caribbean series, Dead Men Tell No Tales did not make the same critical and commercial impact as many of its predecessors. The film garnered low critical notices (a Metacritic rating of 39%) and then went on to gross $172 million domestically on top of its estimated $230-million production budget (in fairness, the film did much better overseas, earning an additional $622 million in non-North American markets). This week, Dead Men Tell No Tales had a very strong Blu-ray market share of 74%.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media rankings was Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's Baby Driver. Director Edgar Wright's crime-comedy-musical proved one of Summer 2017's biggest sleeper hits. After its premiere last June, the film scored terrific critical notices (a Metacritic rating of 86%) and then went on to gross over $226 million worldwide on top of its estimated $34-million production budget. Baby Driver had a good HD market share of 68% and sold 75% as many Blu-rays as Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and 84% as many total units.

Finally, Warner Home Entertainment's release of Wonder Woman filled out the top-three spots on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales lists. A standalone adventure designed to showcase Gal Gadot's Amazon warrior, Wonder Woman quickly became Warner and DC's most beloved superhero fantasy since the release of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy. After its premiere last June, the film scored good critical notices (a Metacritic rating of 76%) and then went on to gross over $820 million worldwide on top of its estimated $149-million production budget. On the Blu-ray-only list, Wonder Woman had a solid HD market share of 64% and sold 46% as many Blu-rays as Dead Men Tell No Tales. Regarding the overall package-media chart, the Warner/DC feature sold 53% as many total units as the latest Pirates of the Caribbean installment.
