U.S. label Film Movement has confirmed that it plans to bring to local theaters and Blu-ray the recent 2K restoration of Sergio Corbucci's classic western The Great Silence (1968), starring Jean-Louis Trintignant, Klaus Kinski, and Frank Wolff. The Blu-ray release is expected to arrive on the market early next year.

Following the announcement Film Movement president Michael E Rosenberg said:

"The Great Silence is widely considered to be one of the best and most influential spaghetti westerns ever made. Following our experiences releasing Time to Die in the States for the very first time, we're excited to saddle up to bring yet another restored classic western to North American moviegoers, certain to be thrilled by Corbucci's masterful dark vision."

Synopsis: On an unforgiving, snow-swept frontier, a group of bloodthirsty bounty hunters, led by the vicious Loco (Klaus Kinski, Nosferatu) prey on a band of persecuted outlaws who have taken to the hills. As the price on each head is collected one-by-one, only a mute gunslinger named Silence (Jean-Louis Trintignant, The Conformist) stands between the innocent refugees and the greed and corruption that the bounty hunters represent. But, in this harsh, brutal world, the lines between right and wrong aren't always clear and good doesn't always triumph.

Featuring superb photography and a haunting score from maestro Ennio Morricone, director Sergio Corbucci's (Django, Companeros) bleak, brilliant and violent vision of an immoral, honorless west is widely considered to be among the very best and most influential Euro-Westerns ever made.
