British label Eureka Entertainment has confirmed that it is planning to bring to Blu-ray a number of new titles as well as screen theatrically recent restorations from the Cohen Film Collection.

Manina: The Lighthouse-Keeper's Daughter

Synopsis: A Parisian student, Gérard Morere, sets off to recover a lost treasure contained in a sunken Phoenician ship near an island off the coast of Corsica. With funds supplied by his fellow students, Gérard convinces a smuggler named Eric (played by Jess Franco favourite Howard Vernon) to be his transportation. Whilst diving for the treasure off the picturesque Lavezzi islands, Gérard gets to know Manina (Brigitte Bardot), the attractive daughter of the local lighthouse keeper…

Notable for being one of Bardot's first on-screen performances, five years before her appearance in And God Created Woman launched her to super-stardom, Manina, The Lighthouse-Keeper's Daughter is presented here for the first time ever on Blu-ray.

  • Optional English subtitles
  • 56 Rue Pigalle (88 mins) - Director Willy Rozier's little-seen noir-melodrama
  • Footage of the infamous Rozier-Chalais duel, between director Willy Rozier and film critic François Chalais
  • Stills gallery containing rare photos of Bardot taken during the film's production
STREET DATE: NOVEMBER 13.

Tag

Synopsis: Japanese auteur Sion Sono follows up the deliriously entertaining Tokyo Tribe, with Tag, a surreal horror that combines his arthouse aesthetics with equal doses of pro-feminist action fantasy, and the kind of ultra-gory exploitation filmmaking that would make Takashi Miike and Yoshihiro Nishimura proud.

Mitsuko (Reina Triendl) is the sole survivor of a bizarre paranormal incident that kills all of her classmates. Running for her life, Mitsuko seemingly slips into an alternate reality, but death and chaos seems to follow her everywhere. As Mitsuko finds herself in increasingly surreal and violent situations, the true horror behind her nightmare is revealed.

With a jaw-dropping opening sequence reminiscent of Sono's earlier cult masterpiece, Suicide Club, Tag is a mind-bending slice of action-horror, Alice in Wonderland meets Tokyo Gore Police, and Eureka Entertainment is proud to present the film on Blu-ray and DVD.

  • Optional English subtitles
  • Optional 5.1 or Stereo (uncompressed on the Blu-ray) audio tracks
  • Theatrical trailer
STREET DATE: NOVEMBER 20.

King of Hearts

Synopsis: During World War I, Scottish soldier Private Plumpick is sent on a mission to a village in the French countryside to disarm a bomb set by the retreating German army. Plumpick encounters a strange town occupied by the former residents of the local psychiatric hospital who escaped after the villagers deserted. Assuming roles like Bishop, Duke, barber, and circus ringmaster, they warmly accept the visitor as their King of Hearts. With his reconnaissance and bomb-defusing mission looming, Plumpick starts to prefer the acceptance of the insane locals over the insanity of the war raging outside. Since its debut, King of Hearts has become a worldwide cult favorite and stands out as one of de Broca's most memorable films.

Fifty years after its original release, this satirical look at the absurdities of war is presented in a gorgeous new 4K restoration for modern audiences to discover.

KING OF HEARTS is set to be released theatrically in the UK in 2018, ahead of joining The Masters of Cinema Series on home video. More details to follow...

Re:Born

Synopsis: A legendary soldier with a mysterious past decides to unleash his inner beast to stand up for what he cares about.

Re:Born marks the comeback of Tak Sakaguchi (Versus, Alive, Shinobi:Heart Under Blade), often described as one of the most under-rated actors in the action movie scene, and this film highlights him at his very best. Director Yuji Shinomura (Flash Point, Warriors Way, Gantz:Perfect Wars) teamed up with fight choreographyer Yoshitaka Inagawa, a former close combat instructor for U.S. Special Forces and other international commando units. The film showcases Inugawa's Zero Range Combat System - a technique focused around extremely quick and efficient movements at close range.

The Old Dark House

Stranded travelers stumble upon a strange old house, and find themselves at the mercy of a highly eccentric and potentially dangerous family. This atmospheric thriller features an unforgettable post-Frankenstein horror role for Boris Karloff, as the hulking, disfigured butler Morgan. Also starring in early-career roles are Melvin Douglas, Charles Laughton, Raymond Massey and Gloria Stuart of Titanic.

New World

With a baby on the way, and living in mortal fear of being exposed as a mole, Ja-sung is torn between his duty and honor as a cop, and the fiercely loyal gang members who will follow him to hell and back.

Using inside information from Ja-sung to damage the relationship between the two feuding contenders, suspicions grow that a traitor lives in their ranks. Ruthless Jung (Hwang Jun-min, BLADES OF BLOOD) escalates the game by hiring hackers to search the police database. As Operation New World closes in, and with the stakes climbing higher and a gangland bloodbath guaranteed among those that remain, Ja-sung makes a final, shocking decision no one could have predicted.

Things only get worse when during the night a huge concentration of Talibans begin to surround them.

The Housemaid

Director Derek Nguyen was inspired by the stories of Vietnam told to him when he was a child. His grandmother was a housemaid who then fell in love with her boss, and believed in the existence of ghosts. The horrific stories told by his grandmother made Derek think about the parallel existence of the dead. Derek brought these ideas and emotions from his childhood, along with memories of his family during the difficult period of Vietnamese history, into making THE HOUSEMAID.
