French label Carlotta Films has sent us a new official trailer for the theatrical premiere of the recent 2K restoration of director Lina Wertmüller's classics film Swept Away (1974), starring Giancarlo Giannini, Mariangela Melato, and Riccardo Salvino.

Earlier this year, in the United States Kino Lorber also introduced theatrically new restorations of seven classic films from the acclaimed director. The distributors also confirmed that one of them, Seven Beauties, will transition to Blu-ray later this year.

The touring series made available the following titles: The Seduction of Mimi, Love & Anarchy, All Screwed Up, Swept Away, Seven Beauties, Summer Night, Ferdinando & Carolina, plus the documentary Behind the White Glasses.

Synopsis: Set against the backdrop of the beautiful Mediterranean, Swept Away is Lina Wertmüller's most famous and controversial film about sex, love and politics. On an elegant yacht cruising off the coast of Sardinia, Raffaella (Marigangela Melato), a rich and stunning capitalist, enjoys tormenting Gennarino (Giancarlo Giannini), a Communist sailor. Fate weaves a different scenario and roles become reversed when the two find themselves stranded together on a deserted island. Raffaella must submit to Gennarino in order to survive, which culminates in a dramatic climax when they are rescued. They must determine if their love can survive the harsh realities of civilization.
