Warner Bros. is apparently set to relaunch the Cannonball Run franchise with a brand new film. According to Deadline, the studio Rawson Thurber (Central Intelligence) will direct from a script by Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant (Night at the Museum).
A preliminary release has not yet been revealed.
The original Cannonball Run film was directed by Hal Needham in 1981 and stars Burt Reynolds, Roger Moore, Farrah Fawcett, Dom DeLuise, and Dean Martin. In the united States, it is already out on Blu-ray via HBO Home Entertainment. (See our listing and review of this release here).
The second film, which arrived in 1984, is only available on DVD via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. (See our listing of this release here).
The third film, which was directed by Jim Drake in 1989, also isn't available on Blu-ray.
