The Godfather 45th Anniversary Theatrical Screenings and Blu-ray Releases

Paramount Pictures, Fathom Events, and Turner Classic Movies will celebrate the 45th anniversary of director Francis Ford Coppola's classic film The Godfather with a special two-day event nationwide on Sunday, June 4th and Wednesday, June 7th. The event will include exclusive commentary from Turner Classic Movies host Ben Mankiewicz, who will give insight into the legendary film. This week, Paramount Home Media Distribution also has in stores across the nation brand new individual Blu-ray releases of the three Godfather films.

The Godfather

Synopsis: Francis Ford Coppola's epic masterpiece features Marlon Brando in his Oscar - winning role as the patriarch of the Corleone family. Director Coppola paints a chilling portrait of the Sicilian clan's rise and near fall from power in America, masterfully balancing the story between the Corleone's family life and the ugly crime business in which they are engaged. Based on Mario Puzo's~~ best-selling novel and featuring career-making performances by All Pacino, James Cann, and Robert Ducall, this searing and brilliant film garnered ten Academy Award nominations, and won three including Best Picture of 1972.

The Godfather: Part II

Synopsis: In what is undeniably one of the best sequels ever made, Francis Ford Coppola continues his epic Godffather trilogy with his saga of town generations of power within the Corleone family. Coppola, working once again with the author Mario Puzo, crafts two interwovan stories that world as both prequel and sequel to the original. One shows the humble Sicilian beginnings and New York rise of young Don Vito, now played in a Oscar-winning performance for Best Supporting Actor by Robert De Niro. The other shows the ascent of Michael (Al Pacino) as the new Don. Resembling many of the cast members who helped make The Godfather, Coppola has produced a movie of staggering magnitude and vision, the film received eleven Academy Awards nominations, winning six including Best Picture of 1974.
