French label Carlotta Films has sent us a brand new trailer for the new 2K restoration of Italian master Dino Risi's film Il Mattatore a.k.a. Love and Larceny (1960), starring Vittorio Gassman, Dorian Gray, Anna Maria Ferrero, Mario Carotenuto, Alberto Bonucci, and Fosco Giachetti. The new restoration will open in cinemas across France on June 14.

A Blu-ray release of Love and Larceny is expected to be announced later this year.

Synopsis: Gerardo Latini (Vittorio Gassman) is an actor in search of a role. When his vaudeville performances don't pay the bills, he embarks on a new career as a con artist. He impersonates all sorts of people, learning many tricks from former prison buddy Chinotto (Peppino De Filippo). In one of his greatest coups, he convinces the paparazzi that he's reclusive star Greta Garbo. But his girlfriend, Annalisa (Anna Maria Ferrero), is eager for him to settle down and get married.

*In 2014, the Criterion Collection released on Blu-ray a wonderful 2K restoration of Dino Risi's classic comedy Il Sorpasso (1962), starring Vittorio Gassman, Catherine Spaak, and Jean-Louis Trintignant. Click on the link to see our listing and review of this release.
