For the week that ended on March 5th, Marvel and Walt Disney Home Entertainment's Doctor Strange debuted at the top of the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales rankings. Yet another high-profile superhero adventure in the MCU's big-screen endeavors, Doctor Strange proved both a critical and commercial success for its distributors last fall. The film grossed over $677 million worldwide on top of its estimated $165-million production budget, and it also scored solid critical notices (a 72% favorability rating on Metacritic), even netting an Academy Award nomination for Best Visual Effects at this year's Oscar ceremony. This week, Doctor Strange had a very strong Blu-ray market share of 76%.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales lists was Lionsgate and Summit Home Entertainment's Hacksaw Ridge. Based on the true story of WWII hero Desmond Doss, Hacksaw Ridge was not only a critical and commercial success but also a major Hollywood comeback for its director, the controversial filmmaker Mel Gibson. Nominated for six Academy Awards (of which it won two), Gibson's film scored solid critical notices (a 71% score on Metacritic) and grossed just over $175 million worldwide on top of its estimated $40-million production budget. Hacksaw Ridge sold 15% as many Blu-rays (and had a Blu-ray market share of 52%) and 22% as many total units as Doctor Strange.

Finally, DreamWorks Home Entertainment's Trolls filled out the top-three spots on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales charts. This animated adventure was a modest success with critics and audiences during its fall theatrical release. Its critical notices were okay (a 56% score on Metacritic), and it grossed just over $153 million domestically on top of its estimated $125-million production budget. On the Blu-ray-only ranking, Trolls sold 14% as many Blu-rays as Doctor Strange and had a Blu-ray market share of 53%. Regarding the overall package-media list, the film sold 19% as many total units as the Marvel entertainment.
