For the week that ended on January 29th, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's Inferno premiered at the top of the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales rankings. A sequel to Tom Hanks and Ron Howard's The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons, Inferno struggled to turn a profit for its distributors. Its critical notices were medicore (a 42% score on Metacritic), and it grossed just over $34 million domestically on top of its estimated $75-million production budget. This week, Inferno had a Blu-ray market share of 46%.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales lists was Warner Home Entertainment's Suicide Squad. The most recent entry in DC's live-action cinematic universe, Suicide Squad was a controversial success for the studio during its summer theatrical release. The film grossed more than $745 million globally on top of its estimated $175-million production budget, but it still struggled to find a decent critical reception (its Metacritic score is 40%). Suicide Squad (which had a strong Blu-ray market share of 75%) sold 78% as many Blu-rays and 47% as many total units as Inferno.

Finally, Universal Studios Home Entertainment's The Secret Life of Pets rounded out the top-three titles on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media rankings. This animated comedy was a big success for the studio during its summer theatrical release. The film grossed more than $875 million globally on top of its estimated $75-million production budget, and it also mustered a decent critical reception (its Metacritic score is 61%).
