For the week that ended on January 22nd, Universal Studios Home Entertainment's The Girl on the Train premiered at the top of the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales rankings. This adaptation of Paula Hawkins' bestselling novel was a modest success for its distributors. While its critical notices weren't great (a 48% score on Metacritic), the adult thriller did gross over $75 million domestically on an estimated $45-million production budget. This week, The Girl on the Train had a Blu-ray market share of 49%.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales lists was Warner Home Entertainment's The Accountant. A violent star vehicle for Ben Affleck, The Accountant proved a modest success for its distributors. Although it only managed a 51% favorability rating on Metacritic, the film did go on to gross $150 million worldwide after incurring an estimated $44-million production budget. The Accountant (which had a Blu-ray market share of 49%) sold 74% as many Blu-rays and 85% as many total units as The Girl on the Train.

Finally, Lionsgate Home Entertainment's Deepwater Horizon rounded out the top-three titles on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media rankings. Director Peter Berg and star Mark Wahlberg's action-packed docudrama struggled to connect with North American audiences despite reasonably solid critical notices. While the film's critical reception stands at 68% on Metacritic, it only grossed $61 million domestically on top of its estimated $110-million production budget. Deepwater Horizon sold 73% as many Blu-rays (and had an HD market share of 44%) and 80% as many total units as The Girl on the Train.
