For the week that ended on January 1st, Warner Home Entertainment's Suicide Squad remained at number one on the Blu-ray-only sales ranking. The most recent entry in DC's live-action cinematic universe, Suicide Squad was a controversial success for the studio during its summer theatrical release. The film grossed more than $745 million globally on top of its estimated $175-million production budget, but it still struggled to find a decent critical reception (its Metacritic score is 40%). This week, Suicide Squad had a Blu-ray market share of 54%.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only sales list was Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's The Magnificent Seven. A remake of the 1960 John Sturges classic, The Magnificent Seven was a modest success for the studio during its fall theatrical release. The film grossed more than $160 million globally on top of its estimated $90-million production budget, and it scored a Metacritic score of 54%.
