Independent British distributors Third Window Films have confirmed that they are planning to release on Blu-ray Japanese auteur Shinya Tsukamoto's film
Fires on the Plain (2014), starring Shinya Tsukamoto, Rirî Furankî (Lily Franky), Tatsuya Nakamura, and Yûko Nakamura. The release will be available for purchase in June, 2017.
Plot: A Japanese soldier endures illness, starvation and brutality in the Philippines at the tail end of WW2. (Based on the 1959 film of the same name by Kon Ichikawa. In the United States, the
original film is currently available only on DVD via the Criterion Collection).
