For the week that ended on December 11th, Universal Studios Home Entertainment's The Secret Life of Pets premiered at the top of both the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media rankings. This animated comedy was a big success for the studio during its summer theatrical release. The film grossed more than $875 million globally on top of its estimated $75-million production budget, and it also mustered a decent critical reception (its Metacritic score is 61%). This week, The Secret Life of Pets had a Blu-ray market share of 59%.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only and and overall package-media sales lists was another Universal release: the action-thriller Jason Bourne. Director Paul Greengrass and star Matt Damon's long-awaited return to the Bourne franchise, Jason Bourne struggled to connect with audiences this past summer. To date, the film (which mustered a critical reception of 59% on Metacritic) only grossed $162 million domestically on top of its estimated $120-million production budget. On the Blu-ray-only list, Jason Bourne sold 46% as many discs as The Secret Life of Pets and had a strong Blu-ray market share of 66%. And regarding the overall package-media chart, Bourne sold 41% as many total units as Universal's animated film.

Finally, the Pixar favorite Finding Dory rounded out the top-three titles on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media rankings. The sequel to the 2003 animated classic Finding Nemo, Dory was one of Summer 2016's biggest hits. To date, the film has gone on to gross more than $1 billion globally, and it also mustered a robust critical reception (its Metacritic score is 77%). On the Blu-ray-only list, Finding Dory sold 12% as many discs as The Secret Life of Pets (and had a Blu-ray market share of 51%) and 14% as many total units.
