Scott Hettrick of Hollywood in Hi Def has recently posted regarding his experience with 3D Blu-ray after returning from a hands-on demo at Panasonic Hollywood Labs (PHL). As
reported by our own Ben Williams, Panasonic's system, which was first showed off at CEATEC in Japan, uses two 1080p streams and special shutter glasses to produce a 3D image.
But even as he sees the format making great strides technically in order to meet the new direction in Hollywood film making, he is frustrated how analysts are discounting Blu-ray's success in the market place because it has not met their lofty goals. Now that the format represents 10% of all new release sales, and is experiencing substantial growth, the news media continues to proclaim the format in trouble. They continually compare it to DVD, a format which is on the decline while Blu-ray grows - I wonder why that is?
