For the week that ended on December 4th, Walt Disney Pictures Home Entertainment's Pete's Dragon premiered at the top of both the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media rankings. Director David Lowery's sensitive remake of the 1977 Disney favorite, this new Pete's Dragon was a modest success for the studio during its summer theatrical release. The film grossed more than $142 million globally on top of its estimated $65-million production budget, and it also mustered a solid critical reception (its Metacritic score is 71%). This week, Pete's Dragon had a Blu-ray market share of 60%.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only and and overall package-media sales lists was another Disney release, the Pixar favorite Finding Dory. The long-awaited sequel to the 2003 animated classic Finding Nemo was one of Summer 2016's biggest hits. To date, the film has gone on to gross more than $1 billion globally, and it also mustered a robust critical reception (its Metacritic score is 77%). On the Blu-ray-only list, Finding Dory sold 67% as many discs as Pete's Dragon and had a Blu-ray market share of 52%. And regarding the overall package-media chart, Finding Dory sold 78% as many total units as the Pete's Dragon remake.

Finally, a third Disney title - the live-action fantasy The BFG - rounded out the top-three titles on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media rankings. An adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic children's story, this Steven Spielberg film struggled to overcome a mediocre commercial reception. The BFG netted a Metacritic grade of 66% and only grossed almost $178 million worldwide on top of its estimated $140-million production budget. In terms of the Blu-ray-only list, The BFG had a Blu-ray market share of 59% and sold 67% as many Blu-rays and 68% as many total units as Finding Dory.
