The Criterion Collection has announced the special features for the upcoming Blu-ray release of '
El Norte', which is currently scheduled to hit store shelves on January 20th. Technical specs have yet to be announced, by you can expect to see 1080p video accompanied by a DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack.
Extras for this release include:
- A new, high-definition digital transfer supervised and approved by Nava
- New audio commentary from Nava
- “In the Service of the Shadows: The Making of El Norte,” - a featurette featuring interviews with Nava, producer and co-writer Anna Thomas, actors Zaide Silvia Gutiérrez and David Villalpando, and set designer David Wasco
- Wall of Silence - a documentary by Nava and Barbara Martinez Jitnew about the building of the wall along the U.S.-Mexico border
- The Journal of Diego Rodriguez Silva, the 1972 award-winning student film by Nava
- Gallery of Chiapas location-scouting photographs

- A new and improved English subtitle translation
