By now, if you aren't familiar with
what '
Baraka' is all about, you're at least familiar with how well its Blu-ray release has been reviewed. When Roger Ebert, one of the most widely-known and respected movie reviewers of all time, calls it the "reason to acquire a Blu-ray player", you know there is something special on that disc. Usually, a title from a non-major studio would be buried beneath multi-million dollar studio films, but the relatively light offerings this week allow this must own title to float to top of the list.
The one exception to that statement may be Disney's release of '
Tinker Bell', which shows once again the total dedication the studio has towards the format. Even though she has been featured as a major part of Disney's image, Tink has yet to have her own film - or even a voice! Today's Blu-ray release of her very first film includes a BD-Live "Tinker Trainer Game" which rewards users with Movie Reward Points which they can use to purchase Tinker Bell themed wallpaper and virtual jewelry.
In addition to the day-and-date release of '
Journey to the Center of Earth', Warner is also releasing the holiday hits '
The Polar Express Presented in 3-D' and
'
Elf'.
Next week picks right up again with the '
Planet of the Apes' releases, so if this is a breather week for you, enjoy it while you can.
