Sony officially announced today the arrival of a new, thinner version of the existing PS4. The official release date for the new PS4 is September 15. It will be sold for $299 in the U.S., €299 in the European Union, £259 in the United Kingdom, and ¥29,980 in Japan.
Complete specs will be available later today, but according to preliminary information the slim model will support HDR video via a firmware upgrade. All other existing capabilities will be transferred from the exciting console to the new one.
Sony also announced the arrival of the PS4 Pro model, which will handle 4K content and HDR video and will have a 1TB hard drive. The new console will be priced at $399 in the U.S. The official street date for the PS4 Pro is November 10.
