For the week that ended on August 28th, Universal Studios Home Entertainment's The Huntsman: Winter's War premiered at the top of the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media rankings. Simultaneously a prequel, side-quel, and sequel to 2012's Snow White and the Huntsman, Winter's War struggled to make an impact with critics and audiences when it debuted last April. Winter's War grossed just over $48 million domestically (on top of its estimated $115-million production budget), and it scored a Metacritic grade of 35%. This week, Winter's War had a Blu-ray market share of 59%.

Next on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media charts was Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's The Angry Birds Movie. This animated comedy - an adaptation of the popular video game - was a modest success when it debuted last May. The Angry Birds Movie grossed just under $347 million worldwide (on top of its estimated $73-million production budget), and it scored a Metacritic grade of 43%. On the Blu-ray-only list, The Angry Birds Movie sold 43% as many discs as Winter's War and had a Blu-ray market share of 50%. Regarding the overall package-media chart, The Angry Birds Movie sold 51% as many total units as Winter's War.

Finally, Warner Home Entertainment's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice rounded out the top three positions on the Blu-ray-only media ranking. The controversial sequel to the 2013 superhero picture Man of Steel, Dawn of Justice managed to find commercial success despite heavy critical pushback. Even those Dawn of Justice only mustered disappointing critical notices, as evinced by its 44% score on Metacritic, the film did gross over $872 million worldwide on top of its estimated $250-million production budget. In terms of the Blu-ray-only list, Dawn of Justice had a strong Blu-ray market share of 71% and sold 42% as many Blu-rays as Winter's War. However, the film came in fourth place - behind The Walking Dead: The Complete Sixth Season - on the overall package-media list, where it sold 35% as many total units as Winter's War.
