Currently, the majority of Blu-ray players on the Japanese market are also recorders. In Japan, where high definition TV content has been available for much longer than in the US, many people record shows off their TVs and burn them to Blu-ray discs for storage and playback. Now, Pioneer is bringing the LX70 (the same player that they are shipping to Europe) to Japan, being one of the only choices for those consumers looking for only a player.

Featuring 1080p24 output via HDMI, and support for Dolby TrueHD, the new player is refined with high quality components and build quality unsurpassed. And for those of you who are very eco-friendly, the LX70 features a completely lead-free circuit board.

The player will be released in Japan in late June for a suggested retail price of 170,000 yen including tax (approx. $1,400 US).
