For the week that ended on July 16th, Lionsgate Home Entertainment's Allegiant took at the top spot on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media lists. An adaptation of the first part of the last book in Veronica Roth's popular Divergent series, the picture continues the narrative started in the hit 2014 film Divergent and its follow-up Insurgent, although Allegiant did not prove as successful as either of its predecessors. The film only grossed $179 million worldwide, an amount which does not compare favorably to Insurgent's gross of $295 million or Divergent's $288 million earnings; and Allegiant also mustered disappointing critical notices, as evinced by its 33% score on Metacritic. This week, Allegiant had a Blu-ray market share of 54%.

Next on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media charts was Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's Miracles from Heaven. This faith-based drama - an adaptation of Christy Beam's popular nonfiction memoir - helped demonstrate the commercial benefits of producing films steeped in Christian values. While the critical reception to Miracles from Heaven was fairly harsh (its Metacritic score is 44%), the public response was far more positive - the modestly budgeted feature (just $13 million) grossed over $61 million domestically. In terms of sales percentages, Miracles from Heaven sold 30% as many Blu-rays as Allegiant (and had a Blu-ray market share of 27%) and 60% as many total units.

Finally, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment's Zootopia rounded out the top three positions on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media rankings.. This animated adventure - the latest from Wreck-It Ralph director Rich Moore - was a box-office smash when it debuted last March. Zootopia grossed just over $1 billion worldwide, and it scored a respectable Metacritic score of 78%. On the Blu-ray-only list, Zootopia sold 18% as many discs as Allegiant and had a Blu-ray market share of 44%. Regarding the overall package-media chart, Zootopia sold 22% as many total units as Allegiant.
