Film Critic Roger Ebert recently reviewed a copy of the upcoming Blu-ray release of '
Baraka', which is due to hit store shelves on October 28th. Calling it "the finest video disc I have ever viewed or ever imagined," the famous critic concluded that "Baraka by itself is sufficient reason to acquire a Blu-ray player."
Having also watched this disc, I can easily agree with his comments, but will add one thing: this film may also be the finest audio disc you ever hear. While the 65mm print which was scanned at 8k before being encoded for Blu-ray looks absolutely jaw-dropping, the 24-bit/96kHz DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack will engulf you like no soundtrack you've ever heard. The experience is nothing short of groundbreaking.
MPI Media Group, the company which is releasing this Blu-ray, has done an absolutely stunning job, and puts Blu-ray releases from other, much larger studios to shame.
