German label Subkultur Entertainment's has informed us that it is finalizing
a new 4K restoration of director Carl Schenkel's cult crime thriller Abwärts a.k.a. Out of Order (1984), starring Götz George, Hannes Jaenicke, Wolfgang Kieling, and Renée Soutendijk. The label has also sent us some samples from its new scan which will be used to produce a master for the eventual Blu-ray release.
Also included with this announcement is the original German trailer for Out of Order.
Synopsis: Gössmann, a bookkeeper who has just robbed his employer of a large sum of money, gets stuck in an elevator of an office tower together with Jörg, his lover Marion and the young Pit. Because it is Friday evening and an engineer working on the elevators in the buidlding has made a mistake, the alarm system is not working and nobody can hear the men calling for help. Cinematography by Jacques Steyn (Kill Me Again).
Subkultur Entertainment's Blu-ray catalog includes such cult titles as Switchblade Sisters, Deathdream, The Brutes, Angels of the Street, The Cannibal Man, Scanners, and Season for Assassins.
