Today on Blu-ray - October 14th

As a franchise, Indiana Jones is one of the most successful ever brought to the silver screen, so it was of little surprise that Paramount decided to green-light another installment in the popular series. Almost 20 years after he went on his "Last Crusade", Harrison Ford returned to reprise his role as the famed adventurer in 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull', which is out today on Blu-ray.

Blu-ray.com reviewer and longtime Indiana Jones fan Martin Liebman thoroughly enjoyed this Blu-ray release, commenting that "Paramount delivers near reference quality audio and video while simultaneously packing this two-disc set full of extra material, presented in high definition to boot." Truly a worthy addition to any Blu-ray collection.

Also hitting store shelves today is the Blu-ray release of 'The Ultimate Matrix Collection', a much overdue release considering its HD DVD counterpart was released over a year ago. Luckily for fans, Warner has taken that time to improve on the already impressive set, giving fans what they have wanted for some time - the Animatrix in high definition.

Universal keeps the ball rolling strong with their release today of the 'Gangster Giftset which includes the Blu-ray releases of 'American Gangster', 'Casino', and 'Eastern Promises'. Having watched all three in a multi-night gangster binge, I can easily say that all three are presented beautifully on Blu-ray. If for some reason one of these titles isn't a must own, you can pick each title up individually as well.

Also out today are a few catalog releases, including Warner's release of 'Poltergeist' and Fox's release of 'Romancing the Stone' and its sequel 'The Jewel of the Nile'.

Next week marks to the release of 'The Incredible Hulk - which does look and sound absolutely incredible - as well six James Bond films from MGM.
