British label 88 Films will remaster in 2K four cult Italian films: Joe D'Amato's
Absurd (1981) and
Beyond the Darkness (1979), Michele Massimo Tarantini's
Massacre in Dinosaur Valley (1985), and Lucio Fulci's
Aenigma (1987).
The four titles are expected to be released on Blu-ray soon after the restoration work is completed. The projects were funded after the label initiated an Indigogo campaign, which is still active
here, and fans of the films pledged their support.
Absurd
A priest comes to a small town to help get rid of a monster whose blood coagulates very fast. This creates problems as the monster is very hard to kill and then decides to go on a killing spree of its own. Starring Katya Berger, George Eastman, Annie Belle, Charles Borromel, and Ted Rusoff.
Massacre in Dinosaur Valley
A plane crashes in the Amazon jungle, and its passengers must battle their way through cannibals, slave traders, wild animals and murderous piranha fish to safety. Starring Michael Sopkiw, Suzane Carvalho, Milton Rodríguez, Maria Reis, and Gloria Cristal.
Beyond the Darkness
Grief-struck after the death of his wife, a young man attempts to keep her with him forever - by gutting her, stuffing her and replacing her eyes with glass eyes, turning her into a doll. But his bouts of insanity are just beginning. Starring Kieran Canter, Cinzia Monreale, Franca Stoppi, Sam Modesto, and Anna Cardini.
Aenigma
The spirit of a comatose teenage girl possesses the body of a newcomer to her girls boarding school to enact bloody revenge against the elitist, lingerie-clad coeds responsible for her condition. Starring Jared Martin, Ulli Reinthaler, Lara Lamberti, Jennifer Naud, and Sophie d'Aulan.
