Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment has sent us a brand new extended trailer for director Roland Emmerich's highly-anticipated new film Independence Day: Resurgence (2016), starring Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe, and Sela Ward. The film will open in theaters across the United States on June 24, 2016.
Official synopsis: We always knew they were coming back. After Independence Day redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens' advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.
NOTE: Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will also release a brand new 4K Blu-ray edition of the original film, Independence Day (1996), starring Will Smith, Bill Pullman, Jeff Goldblum, Mary McDonnell, and Judd Hirsch. The three-disc set (4K Blu-ray/2 Blu-rays) will be available for purchase on June 7.
