For the week that ended on May 15th, Twentieth Century Home Entertainment's Deadpool premiered at the top of the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales lists. Director Tim Miller's raunchy action-comedy was a huge success when it premiered last February. Deadpool grossed over $762 million worldwide on top of its estimated $53-million production budget, and it scored an 65% favorability rating on Metacritic. This week, Deadpool had a strong Blu-ray market share of 71%.

Next on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media charts was Lucasfilm and Disney Home Entertainment's Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens. The latest installment in the iconic Star Wars franchise made a huge commercial impact when it hit theaters last December. The Force Awakens grossed over $2 billion worldwide on top of its estimated $245-million production budget, and it scored an 81% favorability rating on Metacritic. Furthermore, during its first week on home media, The Force Awakens outsold its remaining nineteen Blu-ray and DVD competitors in the Top 20 VideoScan charts nearly five to one. On the Blu-ray-only list, The Force Awakens sold only 5% as many discs as Deadpool and had a Blu-ray market share of 64%. Regarding the overall package-media chart, The Force Awakens sold 6% as many total units as the R-rated comic-book actioner.

Finally, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment's The Revenant rounded out the top three positions on the Blu-ray-only media ranking. Director Alejandro González Iñárritu's brutal survival drama netted its distributors both critical and commercial plaudits last year. The Revenant grossed over $521 million worldwide on top of its estimated $135-million production budget, and it scored a 76% favorability rating on Metacritic, a rating that helped translate the film's success into three Academy Awards for Best Actor, Best Director, and Best Cinematography. The Revenant sold 2% as many Blu-rays as Deadpool and had a Blu-ray market share of 47%. On the overall package-media list, The Revenant came in fourth place - behind Sony's The 5th Wave - and sold 4% as many total units as Deadpool.
