Rialto Pictures has released trailer for the the recent restoration of Carol Reed's classic film The Fallen Idol, starring Ralph Richardson, Michèle Morgan, Sonia Dresdel, Denis O'Dea, and Jack Hawkins. The restoration will be screened in select theaters across the nation.
The Fallen Idol was recently restored by StidioCanal in the United Kingdom. The new restoration is already out on Blu-ray via StudioCanal's Vintage Classics series. You can see our listing and review of this release here.
Official synopsis: Carol Reed's award-winning adaptation of Graham Greene's short story told primarily from a child's perspective. Philippe (Bobby Henrey) is the young son of a diplomat and he idolises Baines (Ralph Richardson), his father's butler. When Baines' wife is found murdered and Baines is implicated, Philippe tries everything to point the investigation away from the butler. In doing so he makes matters worse and also discovers that his hero is not the man he thought he was. Starring Ralph Richardson, Michèle Morgan, Sonia Dresdel, Denis O'Dea, and Jack Hawkins.
