Upcoming 88 Films Blu-ray Releases

Posted February 19, 2016 04:21 PM by Webmaster

Independent British distributors 88 Films will add a number of new titles to their Blu-ray catalog in April in May. Amongst them are Man from Deep River (1972), Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers (1988) and Sleepaway Camp III: Teenage Wasteland (1989), and Flesh Eating Mothers (1988).

Flesh Eating Mothers

It s just another day in your typical Middle America town. The children diligently head off to school, fathers leave for the office and mothers spend their day working hard to make certain the family returns to a clean house and a warm dinner on the table. Today may begin like every other day in this town of good, solid values, but children become suspicious when their mothers begin developing some very peculiar appetites. Flesh Eating Mothers is a non-stop cult action/comedy that tells the story of a kid s worst nightmare: becoming dinner!

STREET DATE: MAY 23.

The Man from Deep River

So shocking that, to this day, the British censors insist on culling some of the film s use of live animal 'performers' The Man from Deep River instigated the entire Italian cannibal movie trend. Indeed, long before Cannibal Holocaust attempted its own blend of bloodshed and authority-upsetting horror, The Man from Deep River was carving out an influential and important path of its own. Directed by Umberto Lenzi, who later oversaw the arterial-gushing gore of Cannibal Ferox and Eaten Alive, The Man from Deep River introduces us to a British expat (essayed by genre veteran Ivan Rassimov) who gets into some bar-brawling trouble in Bangkok and flees to the Burmese border. Unfortunately, once there, he is captured by a primitive tribe who do not take too kindly to trespassers. On the plus side, though, at least he has the lovely tribal babe Me Me Lai (Last Cannibal World) to keep him company... but will their 'forbidden' love meet with further flesh-filleting fear?

Filled with sicko-splatter sequences of torture and terror The Man from Deep River was an original UK Video Nasty and it returns to British shelves, in sanguine-splashed HD, for a very special 88 Films edition.

Sleepaway Camp III: Teenage Wasteland

It's an Autumn retreat at Camp New Horizons for a group of lusty teenagers. Lunatic Angela Baker joins them and gives them a lesson in butchery with axes, trucks, firecrackers, lawnmowers and more. This is the third part of the gruesome, wild, body-count saga.

STREET DATE: APRIL 25.

Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers

Angela Baker (Pamela Springsteen) has become a counselor at Camp Rolling Hills - a summer camp for teenagers. Crazy Angela has plans to teach the badly-behaved campers a lesson or two in survival - by slicing, stabbing, drilling, barbecuing, chain-sawing and worse. This is the follow up to the original cult hit 'Sleepaway Camp'.

STREET DATE APRIL 25.

Creepshow 2

Three more creepy tales from horror maestros George A. Romero and Stephen King. In 'Old Chief Wood'nhead' a wooden cigar-store Indian comes to life and avenges the store-owner's death; in 'The Hitchhiker' a rich woman is terrorised by a hitcher; and in 'The Raft' a group teenagers out swimming find themselves under attack from a mysterious craft.

STREET DATE: APRIL 11.

Scalps

A cut above many eighties "slasher classics", 1983s SCALPS mixes splatter action with the supernatural when a group of college kids begin digging around an old Native American burial ground. Suffice to say, a spirit by the name of Black Claw was enjoying his sleep and does not react well to being disturbed!

A slaughter-thon that serves-up plenty of plasma-spillage and teen-trepanning set-pieces, SCALPS has been unavailable in the UK since the days of rental shops. As such, 88 Films is proud to bring back this low budget terror totem in a terrific new director-approved HD scan that will, surely, have tribes of horror fans hollering in happiness.
