Warner Bros. will release the
sequel to Ridley Scott's classic film
Blade Runner on January 12, 2018. The film is produced by Alcon Entertainment, which acquired the rights to
Blade Runner in 2011.
Sony Pictures will distribute the film internationally.
The sequel will be directed by Canadian helmer Denis Villeneuve and lensed by acclaimed cinematographer Roger Deakins. Previously, the two teamed up on teamed up on
Prisoners (2013) and on the Palme d'Or nominated
Sicario (2015).
The cast includes Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford, who will reprise his iconic role as Rick Deckard.
Hampton Fancher, who co-wrote the script for the original film, and Michael Green (
Green Lantern) wrote the script for the new film.
Shooting will begin this July.
