Today on Blu-ray - September 30th

Today marks the beginning of the fourth quarter in retail sales, a time where manufacturers, content providers, and retailers join together in order to provide the largest variety of titles and hardware in anticipation of the holiday gift-buying season. How appropriate it is that the today also marks the Blu-ray release one of the biggest titles this summer - 'Iron Man' - to launch it off.

Over the past month, Paramount has revived their high definition offerings, becoming a producer of some of the best Blu-ray titles available. 'Transformers' and 'The Godfather: The Coppola Restoration' have quickly become fan-favorites, their release of 'Iron Man' is to be no exception. As Blu-ray.com Reviewer Greg Maltz points out in his review, "Iron Man is the best two-disc package available on Blu-ray". This is a release that should not be missed.

Also coming out today, Universal is releasing two more three-disc collections of popular catalog titles. The 'Ultimate Unrated Comedy Collection' features 'The 40 Year Old Virgin', 'Knocked Up', and 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall', which are also available to purchase individually. 'The 40 Year Old Virgin' will always hold a special place in my collection, as one of the funniest, and most quotable movies I've ever seen.

Marking the beginning of the Halloween horror-fest, they are also releasing the 'Halloween Starter Pack' which includes 'Land of the Dead', 'Dawn of the Dead', and 'The Thing' (also available individually). For more horror fun, Disney is releasing M. Night Shyamalan's 'The Sixth Sense'. Next week sees the release of many horror classics as well as the highly anticipated release of Disney's first Platinum Blu-ray release 'Sleeping Beauty'.
