Magnolia Home Entertainment has detailed its upcoming Blu-ray release of
director Rick Alverson's film Entertainment (2015), starring Gregg Turkington, John C. Reilly, Tye Sheridan, and Lotte Verbeek. The release will be available for purchase on February 23, 2016.
Based on Gregg Turkington's stand-up comedy character Neil Hamburger, Entertainment follows The Comedian (Turkington) as he treks through the California desert, driven by the dream of performing in the bright lights of Hollywood. While seeking solace in his onstage persona along the way, The Comedian struggles between being the center of attention and the unfortunate object of alienation. Throughout his attempt to chase a distant dream, he stumbles into strange encounters with unlikely acquaintances and unconsciously alienates everyone in his path. With continuous off-the-wall humor, "Turkington's compelling performances add up to an unnerving comedy" (The Film Stage).
