For the week that ended on December 13th, Universal Studios Home Entertainment's Minions debuted at the top of the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales rankings. A spinoff starring the sidekicks from the popular Despicable Me series, Minions was a runaway hit this past summer. This animated comedy garnered so-so critical notices (the film has a 56% score on Metacritic), but it grossed over $1.1 billion worldwide on top of its estimated $74-million production budget. This week, Minions had a strong Blu-ray market share of 63%.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media charts was Marvel and Walt Disney Home Entertainment's Ant-Man. Despite its infamous pre-production woes, Ant-Man proved itself a reasonable success with fans; while critics did not adore the superhero adventure (it has an average score of 64% on Metacritic), but audiences responded to the picture, given Ant-Man's worldwide gross of $518 million. On the Blu-ray-only list, Ant-Man had a Blu-ray market share of 63% and sold 48% as many Blu-rays and total units as Minions.

Finally, Pixar and Disney's Inside Out rounded out the top three spots on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales lists. Pixar's whimsical animated comedy about the emotions that govern the mind of a young girl proved one of this summer's most enduring favorites; critics rapturously embraced the film (to the tune of a 94% score on Metacritic), and audiences responded strongly as well, given Inside Out's worldwide gross of $855 million.
